Prep Your Eyes for Eyeshadow.

The right preparation can mean the difference between eyeshadow that lasts all day, without the need for touch ups, and one that creases and slides within hours.

Most women don’t realise that your eyelids are one of the oiliest areas of your face and this is what causes the problems with creasing. Oil is the number 1 killer of eyeshadow!

So cleanse and moisturise your face, including the general eye area, as usual but then gently remove the oily residue from your eyelid area alone, using a water based cleanser or an alcohol and perfume free baby wipe.

Then apply oil free foundation to the eyelid area. Your eyelids have a lot of red and blue tones and the foundation will even this out and give you a blank and neutral canvas for your eyeshadow. All foundations, even oil free ones, contain a moisturiser and this is all you will need on your eyelids.

Then lightly powder the eyelids with a translucent powder, apply with a cotton wool ball for best results.

Then you are all ready to go, you will be amazed how much difference this simple eye prep can make to your eye make up. Choose from our great range of eyeshadow at Cosmetics4less, from only £0.99.

Smokin Eyeliner!

Filed under: Quick Make Up Tips — Tags: , — admin @ 6:35 pm

Instead of using eyeliner for daily make-up use powder eyeshadow applied with a very narrow brush to give a smokey, modern appearance to the edge of the eyes.

Smudge further if necessary with a larger brush. Or you can use a damp applicator and use the powder wet for a sharper line of colour.

If you must use a pencil then try running it under hot water before you apply it, this will give a deeper, smudged smokey effect.

Put the pencil into the fridge after using it like this so it retains its shape.

Forget Eyeshadow Creasing!

Filed under: Cosmetics Advice — Tags: — admin @ 7:21 am

We were swapping make up horror stories here at Cosmetics4less the other day, and it seems that eyeshadow that runs into the creases of your eyes is a major bugbear. So we would like to share our most effective tips to help avoid this problem.

If this is your problem always go for a powder eyeshadow as cream eyeshadow always has a greater tendency to crease.

After applying any moisturising products or foundation to the eye area, always wait at least 20 minutes to allow the product to be absorbed before applying shadow, as any oily or moist residue will cause the shadow to crease.

Apply a loose translucent powder over the whole eyelid area before you use your shadow. Gently pat off any excess with a dry tissue.

Then, using a small eyeshadow brush apply shadow in thin layers, gradually building up the colour. This should give you a crease resistant eyshadow that will look freshly applied for hours!
