Have you noticed that when you have been using a pressed powder
product, blusher, bronzer or face powder for a while a nasty, greasy film
appears over the surface which makes the product virtually unusable?
This is caused by the oils from your skin, moisturiser and foundation
residue transferring from your skin onto the applicator sponge and then onto the
surface of your powder.
The solution is simple, use a clean sponge every day. A pack of 8 sponges
is only £1.99 and they can be washed and reused many times. I just put a
drop of hair shampoo in a little warm water and gently wash them
through. Rinse well, then roll in a towel to take out the excess water
and leave to dry.
If you do this then all your powders will stay soft and velvety and can be used right to the bottom of the pan.
An added benefit is that old, used applicator pads or sponges can be a breeding ground for germs especially if you suffer from spots or other skin blemishes. You clean your face with a special germicidal spot cleanser so using a clean sponge on clean skin makes sense.
